Brown Butter Chocolate Chip Cookies

Serves: 3½ dozen cookies
  • 2 sticks [8 ounces] butter, browned as described in post
  • 1 cup dark brown sugar
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 2 room temperature eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 2 ½ cups all purpose flour
  • 1 & ¼ teaspoons kosher salt
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 2 cups bittersweet chocolate chip
  • 1 cup coarsely chopped toasted walnuts
  1. Preheat the over to 350º. prepare heavy baking sheets by lining with parchment paper.
  2. Scrape browned butter into the mixing bowl, and beat briefly.
  3. Add the sugars and beat until well combined
  4. Beat in the eggs one at a time, and then add the vanilla
  5. Measure the salt and baking powder in and give it a few quick beats
  6. Add the flour all at once, and beat just until combined.
  7. Dump in the nuts and chips and beat briefly so they are distributed evenly
  8. Scoop the dough by tablespoonfuls - or use a medium cookie scoop - onto parchment lined baking sheets.
  9. Bake for around 10 to 12 minutes, until evenly browned, but still soft in the center.
  10. Remove to a cooling rack, and store in a sealed container once cooled.
