Open the avocado and remove the pit. [see the post for an explanation of how to do this]
Scoop the flesh of the avocado into a flat, medium-sized bowl. Use a fork to mash it to the consistency that you like.
Add all of the remaining ingredients, except the hot sauce and mix well.
Taste and see if you think it could use more heat, and add your favorite hot sauce if you like.
You can dig in right away, or let it chill for a while to allow the flavors to blend. If refrigerating, take a piece of plastic wrap and press it gently on the surface of the guacamole to prevent it from darkening.
Notes
Leftovers will keep for about a day, so long as you cover them with plastic wrap, pressed on the surface of the guacamole.
