If you feel so inclined, how about sharing your 4th of July plans or favorite dishes in the comments? If you are a blogger, feel free to share a link to a favorite picnic recipe on your own blog – I’m sure everyone would love to stop over and see what you have going on too!
Our family is home for the weekend now, so we’re planning a quiet day on the 4th, probably featuring some heavy doses of yard work, followed by something really tasty on the grill. I would not be a bit surprised if some of these treats below end up on our table.
I hope that those of you in the States have a wonderful day, as we celebrate out country’s Birthday!
Broccoli Bacon Slaw is a great make-ahead salad. packed with flavor and crunch!
These Bread and Butter Pickles are ready in just a couple days and will make a very welcome guest!
If you still have garlic scapes around, this Garlic Scape Pesto is great as a dip, or to spice up some pasta or veggies
This Grilled Romaine Salad from last week is quick and easy:
Green Beans with Miso would take advantage of the abundance you will find in many Farmer’s Markets right now – simple and delicious.
And while you’re at the Farmer’s Market, look for some cherries, so that you can add this to the menu: Cherry Vanilla Bean Ice Cream. Sweetly bursting with flavor, and the color is very patriotic!
If you are in charge of the grill, here are two choices that will please nearly everyone:
Grilled Buffalo Hot Wingsor Herb Grilled Chicken Thighs
Finally, if it’s not too hot to turn on the oven, this Maple Walnut Rhubarb Crisp might be a good idea
Although I won’t be in the States for July 4th this summer, my spirit will be there! I want to be invited to your home and have all these delicious dish! The salad looks really yummy, I especially love the broccoli and bacon combo, and the grilled romaine lettuce sounds fun to try! Love all these summery dishes, Donalyn!
Great collection of goodies! We’re planning a pretty low key celebration this year – be nice to kick back and relax a bit. I hope you have a great 4th!
It’s nice that now the kids are grown, and they invite us over to their place for the 4th! I might ask if they could use some ice cream and make yours though! Thanks!
Lots of great ideas here. I am especially interested in the broccoli bacon slaw. You can never have too much bacon! Thanks for gathering up all these great recipes in one place!
It’s hard to pick a favourite from this line up of delicious dishes. If I have to choose: Grilled Romaine Salad and the cherry ice cream!
Happy Fourth of July to you too! We just celebrated Canada Day, thanks for dropping by and leaving me a lovely comment. What a nice round up, I find them so hard to do, but you’ve selected an incredible collection of tasty treats.
